volunteering
May 15, 2008 / 5:28 p.m.
I'm off work, it's hot in Portland, and i'm drinking a microbrew and relaxing at home inside with the shades down.
Monday was the last day going up to Woodlawn in Northeast to volunteer. A little bit of an early ending. I started around February this year, instead of at the beginning of the schoolyear...
I walked Hociel back to his class before I saw him for the last time, and said goodbye and to have a good summer, and i grabbed his shirt a little bit to slow him down, but he just kept going and I didn't hear anything...
I felt bad, but then again, I was far more awkward and weird when I was in Kindergarten.
I did miss a few times, due to running the business... and blanking out that I was supposed to put aside 1 o'clock on Monday when i was scheduling work.
But, I feel so great due to the fact that Hociel, the kid I read to every week (Caleb was absent more than he was there)... from the time I went for the first time, till Monday... advanced SO much as a reader that it's hardly believable. I feel like such an old schoolmarm at this point, but thinking about it now, I really can't think of anything that could make me feel better...
I'm probably gonna do this as long as I possibly can...
Volunteer! You get 10 times back what you ever put out.
